How accessible is the digital service?

Accessibility status: The digital service partially meets the requirements of WCAG 2.1 level A and AA. However, the service still has individual shortcomings, which are described below.

What non-accessible content does the digital service have?

  • The text alternative of the header image on the front page has been marked incorrectly.
  • Some of the content of the consent and cookie settings is in English within the Finnish-language user interface.
  • Some headings are not semantically correct: the donation block’s heading is an interactive element.
  • The mobile menu opens unreliably with some methods of use.
  • The consent settings dialog has shortcomings in the close button’s name, as well as in the dialog’s position in the reading order.

1.1.1 Non-text Content

  • The alt attribute of the header image on the front page has been marked incorrectly.

1.3.1 Info and Relationships

  • The donation block’s heading has been implemented as an interactive element instead of a heading element.
  • The shopping cart’s heading levels do not follow a logical order.
  • The reason for the donation-type restriction is not conveyed programmatically.

1.4.11 Non-text Contrast

  • The contrast of the close button in the consent settings dialog is not sufficient.

2.1.1 Keyboard

  • The mobile menu opens unreliably with some methods of use.

2.4.3 Focus Order

  • When the search results load, focus moves to the consent settings.
  • The position of the consent settings dialog in the reading order does not follow the visual order.

2.5.3 Label in Name

  • The visible heading and the accessible name of the cookie dialog do not match each other in content or language.

3.1.2 Language of Parts

  • The donation modal’s error messages are in English.
  • Some of the content of the consent settings dialog is in English.

3.3.1 Error Identification

  • The donation modal’s error message disappears when the user navigates before the error has been corrected.

4.1.2 Name, Role, Value

  • Some of the icon buttons and the repeated donation links lack a descriptive and unique accessible name.
  • The name of the close button in the consent settings dialog is not understandable.
  • The accessible name of the cookie dialog is in English and does not match the dialog’s visible heading.

4.1.3 Status Messages

  • No announcement is given to the screen reader when the search results are updated.
  • No announcement is given to the screen reader when the shopping cart is updated.
